Building the crysknife has been one adventure I thoroughly enjoyed, so I decided to share my story and build process on the Instructables.
Was surprised that after a couple of days, the Instructable got quite popular. It’s now at 32K hits! Am surprised to discover a lot of dune fans out there, too.
It’s nice to know that people appreciate your work. One of my favourite comments was when a professional propmaker from Hollywood said kind words about the crysknife. What I like about the site is that it’s full of creative people who have nothing but constructive comments to give about your work. Interestingly, the site also promotes a “positive-comment only” policy, making it a conducive place to create and share one’s work.
Later on the Instructable won a spot in the featured section of the site, thanks to the editor who picked it!
And when it rains, it pours, with the featured project earning me a free Pro Membership on the site!
Making prop replicas for people who appreciate my work and the process of building something out of nothing are rewards in themselves, and blessings like what’s been happening in the Instructables has been a tremendous morale boost especially now that work is piling up with the orders.
Again, I thank you dear readers for all your kind support for Ginton Forge!
