Sky: What can a minor official do?
Nameless: This is my territory.
Nameless: You are on the kings most wanted list; I am here to place you under arrest!
Long Sky (played by Donnie Yen) is one of the three assassins–along with Broken Sword and Flying Snow–who dedicated their lives to using their fighting prowess to overthrow the King of Qin, who aims to restore to unite China under one emperor through a bloody conquest of the Seven Warring States.
Sky wields the quiang, the chinese spear. The blade on Sky’s spear has the traditional leaf shape, and sports a white horsehair tassle. It’s interesting to note that in the movie, Sky is easily identified by his enemies by the spear he carries around–he doesn’t hide the fact that he is a rebel and is confident that he can take out anyone. He and Nameless (Jet Li) engage in arguably the best fight in the movie–and 90% of it happens… in their minds! You can watch that epic fight here.
Recreating Sky’s spear from scratch will be a tricky process, that’s for sure–Ginton Forge’s baptism of fire. There’s so much detail work to do on the mould, for starters, and it will even be trickier to translate all of that into resin. Still… I want this spear, and I’m sure you guys do as well.
